Efstathia Papageorgiou, Ph.D., M.Sc., holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics (1989, Department of Mathematics – Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics (2000, School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences – National Technical University of Athens), and a Ph.D. in Mathematics (2004, same school and university). She is a Professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of West Attica (UniWA).
Since 2019, she has been serving as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Welfare at UniWA. In the same year, she also assumed the position of Chair of the University’s Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) and became Director of the Research Laboratory “Reliability and Quality Control in Laboratory Hematology – HemQcR.”
Additionally, since 2017, she has been the Director of the Interinstitutional Postgraduate Program titled “Pedagogy through Innovative Technologies and Biomedical Approaches.” Since 2016, she has been the President of the Scientific Supervisory Board at the Ralleia Model Experimental Schools, and she also serves as the scientific supervisor of two Lifelong Learning Programs at UniWA.
Her research interests span a wide range of scientific fields, including, Probability and Statistics, Biostatistics and Medical Statistics, Statistical Data Analysis and Multivariate Analysis, Statistical Tool Validation, System Reliability and System Optimization, Stochastic Processes and Queueing Theory, Educational Evaluation and Decision Theory, Data Mining and Meta-Analysis, Educational Technologies.
Dr. Papageorgiou has authored 40 original research papers published in reputable international scientific journals with significant impact, as well as more than 30 publications in collective volumes from international publishers and in proceedings of peer-reviewed national and international conferences. She is also the author of four university textbooks.
She serves as a member of editorial boards of scientific journals, a member of organizing committees of international conferences, and a reviewer for 24 international scientific journals with high impact.
Her scientific work enjoys international recognition, with over 500 citations and an h-index of 11. She is also a frequent invited speaker at many international conferences.
She has participated in more than 10 funded European or national research projects, either as a principal or collaborating researcher, has acted as the Scientific Coordinator in six of them, and has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate theses.
